Finalists have been disclosed for this year’s Black British Enterprise Awards, an annual occasion that celebrates the achievements of some of the UK’s major corporate bosses and business owners.
Now in its eighth yr, the awards spotlight “exceptional business enterprise talent” throughout 6 industries: arts and media consumer and luxury start out-ups economical solutions skilled solutions and STEM (science, tech, engineering and maths).
Among the 39 businesspeople shortlisted are Taponeswa Mavunga, director of Africa at Sony Songs Uk, Akima Paul-Lambert, litigation companion at Hogan Lovells, and Edgar Chibaka and Jamal Tahlil, co-founders of Leeds-dependent stability agency 1st Reaction Team.
Sophie Chandauka, co-founder and chair of the awards, claimed: “Our finalists have delivered huge business worth throughout sectors in risky marketplaces, exactly where business owners in unique have been decimated.
“They have been strategic advisors to their providers and boards as world organizations are challenged by buyers to deal with systemic racism.
“Despite the pandemic and social unrest, they are fiercely competitive, innovative and commercially savvy. They are world in their outlook and ambition, and symbolize the quite best of being British in a post-pandemic, post-Brexit Europe.”
Segun Osuntokun of regulation agency Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner was named black British businessperson of 2020 at final year’s ceremony.
