Bonmarche collapses again as retail bloodbath deepens

Administrators are striving to strike a rescue offer and stated no redundancies would be made or shops shut in the meantime. 

Bonmarché has 225 shops around the Uk, having shut 30 when it to start with went into administration in October 2019 as it battled rising costs and the menace from on the net searching. 

It was rescued at the time by rival Peacocks – section of retail tycoon Philip Day’s Edinburgh Woollen Mill Group. 

Peacocks and numerous other EWM Group models went into administration previous month. 

Dependent in Wakefield, Bonmarché traces its roots back again to 1982. Founder Parkash Singh Chima commenced marketing garments doorway-to-doorway and in markets, before opening his to start with store in Doncaster in 1985. 

Damian Webb, of directors RSM, said: “Bonmarche continues to be an eye-catching brand name with a faithful consumer foundation. It is our intention to proceed to trade while working intently with administration to check out the options for the small business.

“We will shortly be marketing and advertising the small business for sale, and centered on the curiosity to day we foresee there will be a variety of interested parties.”
