JOHANNESBURG—Frederik Willem de Klerk, the very last chief of South Africa’s white-minority govt who fashioned a prickly romantic relationship with Nelson Mandela, the country’s very first Black president, died Thursday in his residence in Cape City. He was 85 decades aged.
Mr. de Klerk died following a struggle with most cancers, the FW de Klerk Foundation mentioned in a statement. In March, the basis mentioned that the former president had been identified with mesothelioma, a most cancers that affects the lining of the lungs.
