First shipment of red rice exports to US flagged off
The 1st consignment of pink rice, sourced from Assam, was delivered from India to the US on Thursday.
The greater exports of the iron abundant “red rice”, locally recognized as “Bao-dhaan“, would greatly enhance incomes of farming households of the Brahmaputra flood plains, a release issued by the Commerce & Field Ministry mentioned.
The pink rice, which is developed without having the use of chemical fertilisers, is becoming sourced by LT Foods, the release said.
The flagging off ceremony of the export consignments was carried out by Apeda Chairman M Angamuthu at Sonepat, Haryana..
“Apeda has been endorsing rice exports by collaborations with several stakeholders in the benefit chains. The governing administration experienced set up the Rice Export Advertising Discussion board (REPF), under the aegis of Apeda which has representations from the rice field, exporters, and rice producing States which includes West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Chhattisgarh and Odisha.
During the April- January interval of 2020-21, non-basmati rice exports greater a hundred and fifteen for every cent to $3.5 billion in benefit. “We took numerous actions in phrases of making sure protection and cleanliness because of the operational and wellness problems posed by Covid-19, though making sure that rice exports continued uninterrupted,” Angamuthu said.
