Kochi to host international symposium on plantation crops from Dec 14

The 24th Worldwide Symposium on Plantation Crops (PLACROSYM) will be held listed here from December 14 to sixteen with the exclusive concept on ‘Coping with the Pandemic and Over and above: Analysis and Improvements in the Plantation Crops Sector’.

Organised by the Indian Cardamom Analysis Institute, Myladumpara in Idukki, the symposium to be held at Bolgatty Palace will present a popular discussion board for interaction concerning the researchers and stakeholders engaged in plantation crops sector.

It will examine the present scenario in the plantation sector which is challenged by the outbreak of Covid along with vagaries of local weather, ecosystem and habitat, pesticide usage challenges, insufficient plantation labour and superior input charges. The symposium is expected to pave way for beating the disaster and to bridge powerful linkages concerning the field and the scientific group.

Most important crops lined under the symposium are tea, coffee, spices, rubber, coconut, arecanut, oil palm, cashew, cocoa and other plantation crops of industrial relevance.
