Waterloo & City line to reopen after 14 months

London Underground is gearing up for the return of thousands of Town employees by reopening of “The Drain” between Waterloo and Financial institution stations.

The Waterloo & Town line, which has been shut for fourteen months, will reopen on June 21, Transportation for London mentioned.

It issued the statement in advance of Primary Minister Boris Johnson warned of “disruption” to the reopening of the economy in light-weight of new strains of Covid-19.

The line was opened in 1898 and grew to become known for extensive queues at the country’s busiest overland practice station.

It carries 15m passengers each year and is the second busiest following the Victoria line.

Tube bosses are to place on an further peak expert services to cater for bankers, legal professionals and accountants that are not able to change their operating hours.

Catherine McGuinness, coverage chief for the Town of London Company, mentioned: “The reopening of the historic Waterloo & Town line is important to the Sq. Mile’s restoration.”
