Adam Matłacz

Polish. Kozminski College. Masters in Management, graduated 2021. Senior challenge leader, Demant, Warsaw

Did the training course live up to your expectations?

Of course, and to some degree it even exceeded them.

Possessing completed my 1st degree, I believed there would be just one or two topics I would find seriously attention-grabbing — usually it would mainly be repeating issues that I presently realized, or additional theory that I could not set into practice. But actually there have been various topics that have been attention-grabbing or legitimate to what I do. A person of the classes, on creativity — which was not right related to management — was so attention-grabbing that I produced my individual workshop.

I began in IT as a computer software tester, so I produced a workshop for testers named Exploratory Testing Masterclass, which was primarily based on what I learnt at Kozminski and in my expert lifestyle. I did the 1st just one for charity, but now I do it commercially. I believed that at the close of the training course I would just have a piece of paper to demonstrate that I am educated in managerial competencies, but I also produced something primarily based on my studies.

How do you apply what you learnt on the training course?

What has aided me most is that I learnt how to do the job in a multicultural setting.

I also learnt a whole lot about performing enterprise in China and its record, culture, the Chinese way of considering, patterns and so on. This is the expertise I value the most and use on a each day foundation. With my colleagues, Chinese and non-Chinese, I have an understanding of how they think substantially additional, many thanks to the worldwide mother nature of the masters. It also supports my do the job with my Chinese customers: I have an understanding of their requires, tastes and preferences substantially improved mainly because I have been learning and residing in China.

Possessing a grasp of both equally these mindsets can help me be additional productive, effective and proactive in my do the job. It supports my personal progress but it also contributes to my company’s results.

Nikita Lewis

Indian. IIM Calcutta. Post Graduate Programme in Management (MBA), graduated 2021. Senior affiliate, Boston Consulting Team, Mumbai

What was the most important lesson you learnt on the training course?

I learnt to be brave and inquire questions, even when there are no crystal clear solutions.

We did an exercising all through a training course named “Digital Transformation of the World” where we have been questioned to envision a magician who understands almost everything and to take into account what we may well inquire them. We may well not acquire the solutions we need these days or tomorrow, but holding inquiring is a great commence and can help us have an open up frame of mind and stay away from inertia.

I have also modified how I view mentoring. Just before signing up for the masters, I believed that achieving out for mentorship and suggestions was something you did when you necessary assistance. I was shocked when my professors and seniors proactively guided me, be it all through studies, job conclusions or job interview preparations. I realised that mentorship and suggestions go outside of encouraging when necessary and are additional about your overall progress.

Why did you choose to research a masters in management?

I chose the training course mainly because in my previous do the job I experienced seen that so many of my administrators did not seriously know how to regulate a workforce. And considering the fact that I was a minimal kid, I seriously wished to be a leader.

When I was 14, some good friends and I labored in a church in Cali in Colombia giving breakfasts to men and women on very low incomes — and even then I often experienced new tips and wished to build.

That is why I chose the masters in management, mainly because I wished to understand how to inspire a workforce, how to know if a workforce is performing, how to build a workforce — management is just one of my favourite issues. Understanding how to determine out how men and women do the job and how they interact with every single other is something I find seriously attention-grabbing. The masters has supplied me these competencies.
