BEIJING — Chinese President Xi Jinping claimed China reserves the selection of “taking all steps important” from “interference by exterior forces” on the challenge of Taiwan.

In a broad-ranging speech Sunday, Xi spoke firmly about China’s resolve for reunification with the self-governed island, which Beijing considers element of its territory.
